(Sample Letter for New Juniors)                                            NEW  JUNIOR MEMBER INFORMATION

Hello student and parents

My name is Laurie Lyons,

I am the president at the Baldwinville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 373 in Baldwinville

We are reaching out to see if your daughter would qualify to become a member of our Junior Auxiliary.

Honestly it’s such a fun rewarding program, we usually have the girls join us in maybe assist in handing out a meal, making cards for Veterans, joining us in a parade for memorial day handing out flags, helping to wrap presents that the Auxiliary buys to give at the holidays  , we have an advisor, Melanie, who would oversee the girls at all times, along with any of us, to help and assist at any time, we may have a meeting or two during the year when the girls would get together, otherwise the advisor would call you, the parent, to see if the kids are available when needed.   It is not a full time, weekly or monthly commitment.  There is no rule for participation, it can be as much as you want.

We have some members that are newborn, of course they don’t help yet lol , but their parents wanted them to be a member as they grew up, we have a current teen members now who assists at many functions, she has been a part of the program since she was very little, we have a member who is graduating and became a Sr member of the auxiliary and is working her school projects doing things for veterans.

She is able to apply for some scholarship monies that are available thru the legion and did her Sr project at the legion as a supper to raise monies for the Soldiers home in Holyoke, and all of this looks great on her applications for college, work and employment.     Well rounded students are noticed for the school, community and veteran services work!

So I would be completely honored if your daughter is eligible, see below requirements, to have her and her friends join the Auxiliary and be part of our Legion Family.

Thank you for your time, please if you have any questions, just give me a call Laurie Lyons 508-344-8099
